Texture Preview

Textures can be previewed using the items in the bake list. To enable the preview, select the object(s) in the viewport for which you want to enable the preview, then select an item in the list with the type you want to preview, and click on the item's texture icon.
If you want to preview another type, just enable the preview for the new item. The preview will automatically be disabled for the previous type and enabled for the new one.
Hold the CTRL
key to switch to the item and enable its preview with a single click.
When a preview is enabled for an item, all items in the list with the same type will have their icons changed. Any of those items can also be used to disable the preview. To disable the preview, click on the item's icon again. This will turn off the preview for the object(s).
The preview does not represent the final texture's quality. The quality will depend on the texture's scale and the object's UV map.
The preview is also updated in real-time. Any changes made to the type's properties will be instantly reflected in the preview.
Depending on the nodes used for the object's materials and the previewed type, some will require 'Rendered' viewport shading with the 'Cycles' render engine, while others will work even in the 'Material Preview'.
Before saving and closing Blender, you should always disable the preview.
