List items are texture recipes. The items you set in the bake list will be baked as textures.
Each item in the list has its own properties, which include the type and scale. These properties can be found just below the list.
The scale defines the texture's size. A scale of 1024 will result in a texture size of 1024 by 1024. You can change the scale by typing in a specific value, dragging it left or right, using the incremental buttons, or by clicking the half and double buttons on either side. The minimum scale value you can set is 1, while the maximum is 65536.
Additional scale editing methods can be enabled using the bake list settings in the list properties within the preferences.
The other property is the type, which defines what texture will be baked. You can edit the type by clicking on the type button and selecting an option from the available choices.
Additional type edit method can be enabled using the bake list settings in the list properties within the preferences.
The types are divided into categories and differentiated by icons. Categories with the same icon represent sub-categories that are part of a larger category. Sub-categories with a specific name contain only a set of specific types.
Types also have their own properties. These properties are shared among all items with the same type, meaning the type properties apply per type rather than per item.
The visibility of the type properties for items, including the name, sampling, and color space, can be individually hidden using the property options in the preferences.
The first type property is the name. This name is used when creating the textures. Changing the name property does not modify the type's name.
The name can be reset to its default value by pressing the Backspace
key or by setting it to none.
The next property is for selecting the sampling settings to be used for the type when baking. You can choose either low or high sampling settings.
The last property is the color space, which is used when creating the texture. The texture will be created and baked in the specified color space.
Certain types also have additional sub-properties. Some types have only one sub-property, while others have a few. These settings are also per type, not per item.
The visibility of the sub-properties can be disabled entirely using the property option in the preferences.
In addition to the item's properties, all list items have another value. This value is unique to each item and is not shared between types. The gate value, represented by a small checkbox on the right side of every list item. Every item has this checkbox, regardless of its type, and it determines whether the item is enabled or disabled.
Clicking on the checkbox disables the list item. If you click it again, the item is re-enabled. When an item is disabled, no texture will be created from it, which means that disabling an item effectively removes it from the list without actually deleting it.
Adding new items to the list, the one items will have the same scale and type values as the previous item before it.
Items with the same type and size will be highlighted and marked as duplicates.
Newly added items that are duplicates of only the previous item are not highlighted or marked as duplicates.
By modifying the item's properties, the items will no longer be highlighted or marked as duplicates.
